Honeymooners and couples

The underwater and overwater couple's treatment suites, Vinum's underground wine cellar, and Cardamom's tandoor feast are all built around two people rather than a group — Huvafen reads as a couples' island first.

Wellness-focused travellers

Huvafen Spa's SPAQUARIUM, the outdoor Lonu Veyo saltwater flotation pool, a dedicated yoga pavilion, and a fully-equipped overwater gymnasium give a wellness-minded stay more range than most single-spa islands.

Divers and snorkellers

A fully-accredited PADI dive centre, daily scuba dives, and a house reef the resort itself calls one of the Maldives' best make this a credible base for guests who want real diving, not just a reef off the beach.

Before you book

How do we get to Huvafen Fushi, and how long does the transfer take?

By speedboat, approximately 30 minutes from Velana International Airport, arranged by the resort on arrival. There's no seaplane leg to plan around, which makes late-evening or early-morning international connections more workable than at a seaplane-only island.

Does Huvafen Fushi publish set meal plans?

The current factsheet doesn't break dining down into named meal-plan tiers. What's confirmed is six restaurants plus in-bungalow dining available 24 hours a day, with an 'Enchanting Feasts' chef's-table option offered by the infinity pool, in a private corner, or on a sandbank. IMJ confirms which plan applies to your specific rate before booking.

Is Huvafen Fushi suited to families, or is it more of an adults' retreat?

The published factsheet doesn't detail a children's club or age policy for this edition, so we treat it as adult-leaning by default — the underwater and overwater couple's spa suites, the underground wine cellar, and the tandoor feast menu are all built around couples rather than groups with children. IMJ checks current family policy directly with the resort before confirming a booking that includes children.

How good is the house reef for snorkelling?

The resort itself describes it as one of the Maldives' best house reefs, and the factsheet backs that with a fully-accredited PADI dive centre, daily scuba dives, and a marine biologist-led coral adoption programme on top of the reef itself. Private speedboat snorkelling expeditions and whale shark or manta excursions run alongside it for guests who want to go further out.

What makes Huvafen Spa different from a typical resort spa?

It runs across both underwater and overwater ground — one underwater couple's treatment room with panoramic reef views, two further overwater couple's suites, four individual treatment rooms, and a SPAQUARIUM built into the complex. Every therapist trains under Beata Aleksandrowicz's method, and the wider wellness programme adds an outdoor saltwater flotation pool, a yoga pavilion, and a fully-equipped overwater gymnasium.

Can we dive with the resort's dive centre, and is there more than the house reef?

Yes — the on-site PADI-accredited dive centre runs daily scuba dives plus discovery and speciality courses, alongside sunset fishing, dolphin cruises, and whale shark or manta snorkelling excursions further out. IMJ books dive slots and excursions ahead of arrival so the first morning isn't spent waiting on availability.
