Anantara Kihavah and COMO Maalifushi welcome families. A private villa keeps the stay itself secluded, but the island is shared.

Transfer length versus seclusion
OBLU SELECT Lobigili is a 15-minute speedboat from Malé and Anantara Veli a 30-minute one. Anantara Kihavah (35 min), Hurawalhi and Kudadoo (40 min each), You & Me (45 min) and COMO Maalifushi (60 min) are seaplane transfers that trade a longer first day for a more remote setting.

Adults-only doesn't mean the biggest villas
OBLU SELECT Lobigili and Anantara Veli are adults-only and the closest islands to Malé, but their largest villas run 75 and 72 sqm. The seaplane islands stretch further: Hurawalhi to 132 sqm, You & Me to 280, Kudadoo to 380, COMO Maalifushi to 408, Anantara Kihavah to 2,000, so couples wanting both seclusion and space are usually looking at a longer transfer.
Kudadoo's intimacy is also its limit
Fifteen residences and three restaurants total is the most private setting on this list, but it also means the least on-property variety if the stay runs longer than a few nights.
Underwater moments aren't always adults-only
Anantara Kihavah's SEA restaurant and SKY observatory, and COMO Maalifushi's overwater Shambhala spa, are two of the strongest honeymoon set-pieces on this list, but both resorts welcome families, so the moment happens on a shared island, not a strictly adults-only one.
When to go
Most couples time the trip to the Dec–Apr dry season, when calm seas and consistently sunny days deliver the classic honeymoon week. This is also when rates run highest and islands are fullest. May–November brings the SW monsoon: greener light, brief afternoon showers, and noticeably quieter resorts, which suits couples who'd rather have the beach and the spa to themselves. It's also when Baa and western-atoll islands like Anantara Kihavah see the strongest manta and whale shark activity, if diving together is part of the plan.

For couples who want the whole stay to happen in one setting, look for private pool in every villa. Kudadoo, Anantara Kihavah and COMO Maalifushi all guarantee it, while You & Me, OBLU SELECT Lobigili, Anantara Veli and Hurawalhi offer it only on select categories, so confirm the specific villa. Overwater categories put the reef and sunset outside the door; Anantara Kihavah's largest villa runs to 2,000 sqm, Kudadoo's to 380 sqm, both far beyond a standard beach villa's footprint.

Do we need to marry at the same resort we honeymoon at?
No. Some of these islands run their own wedding pavilion. Anantara Veli and Hurawalhi both have one, useful if you want the ceremony and the stay in the same place, but plenty of couples marry elsewhere and choose the honeymoon island purely on its own merits. How far in advance should we book a Maldives honeymoon?
For Dec–Apr peak-season travel, six to nine months ahead gives the widest villa choice, particularly on smaller islands like Kudadoo's fifteen residences. May–Nov travel tends to have more flexibility closer to the date. The right timeline depends on which islands end up on your shortlist, which we work out in a consultation.
Is booking around an underwater restaurant worth it?
