Is there a house reef, or do we need to book an excursion to see marine life?
The island sits inside Baa Atoll's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, an area with more than 250 recorded coral species, and snorkelling is listed among the resort's own on-site activities. For manta rays specifically, Hanifaru Bay — one of the world's largest manta gathering sites — is about 18km away and reached by boat.
What's available for children?
The Westin Family Kids Club runs as an indoor, interactive playground with games and educational activities, and the Heavenly Beach Residence and Two-Bedroom Villa with Pool categories are both built for family groups. Combined with the resort's beach and lagoon, it reads as a workable family choice rather than an adults-only retreat.
