Lagoon Water Villa
An overwater entry point to Laamu — a thatched roof on stilts above the lagoon, with a private sundeck reached by its own short jetty.
108 sqm villa · No private pool · Overwater, lagoon side
The only 5-star resort in its own atoll, with 94 villas built from sustainable materials — most of them overwater — and a resident marine biologist behind the guided house-reef snorkel.

Six Senses Laamu sits alone in Laamu Atoll, a 65-minute seaplane flight from Male, with 94 overwater and beachfront villas built from sustainable materials. Eight dining venues, including an overwater wine cellar, spread across one of the Maldives' largest overwater footprints, plus in-villa dining, and a resident marine biologist leads the house-reef snorkel. The Den kids' club and family villa categories up to a four-bedroom Retreat make it a serious option for families too.

The factsheet
Every fact we hold on Six Senses Laamu (villas, dining, transfers) in one document.
The Den takes children from three, family villa categories run up to the four-bedroom Retreat, and SHELL's kids' zone gives the marine-biology side of the trip its own dedicated space.
A dive centre, a complimentary guided house-reef snorkel with a resident marine biologist, and a nearby surf break from May to September give the water-focused half of a stay plenty to do beyond the villa deck.
Laamu Atoll holds exactly one 5-star resort, so there is no neighbouring island crowding the view — the water villas and the overwater dining rooms both look out on genuinely open water.

How do you get to Six Senses Laamu, and how long does it take?
Six Senses Laamu is reached by a 65-minute scenic seaplane flight from Velana International Airport (MLE) direct to the resort on Olhuveli Island, Laamu Atoll. Seaplanes fly daylight hours only, so IMJ times international arrivals to make the connection or arranges an overnight near Male when a flight lands too late.
Is Six Senses Laamu good for families?
Yes. The Den kids' club takes children from three to eleven, with paid babysitting available outside its hours, and SHELL — the resort's marine-learning centre — has its own kids' zone alongside its exhibition space and marine lab. Family villa categories run from the Family Lagoon and Ocean Beach Villas with Pool up to the four-bedroom Retreat, so a family of any size has a matching villa category.
What is the house reef like for snorkelling?
Laamu Atoll holds only this one 5-star resort, and the house reef is reachable without a boat, with a complimentary guided snorkel led by the resort's resident marine biologist. A dive centre runs equipment and excursions for reef sites further afield.
Which villa categories have a private pool?
Eleven of the fifteen villa categories carry a private pool, from the 126-square-metre Ocean and Laamu Water Villas with Pool up to the 1,550-square-metre four-bedroom Retreat with its own 20-metre lap pool. The four water-villa categories without a pool — Lagoon, Ocean, Laamu and Sunset Laamu Water Villas — are all 108 square metres and share the same overwater footprint, differing mainly by outlook.
Are there adults-only dining options?
Leaf, the resort's Mediterranean dinner restaurant set above the organic garden, is adults-only from age twelve. The other seven venues — including Longitude, Altitude Wine Cellar, Chill Bar, Sip Sip, Zen, Kaji and Ice — welcome all ages.
When is surf season, and is it accessible from the resort?
The Yin Yangs break, reached by a short boat ride from the resort, runs from May to September. Outside that window, the resort's water sports centre covers diving, snorkelling, kayaking, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding.

Thirty minutes on dates, occasion and which island actually suits you. No obligation, no scripted pitch.
A few ways into the resorts, by the kind of trip you have in mind.
