Six Senses Kanuhura spans three private islands in Lhaviyani Atoll, with 85 villas across 14 categories — beach, family, and overwater, all with a direct sea view. Seven dining venues range from an all-day buffet restaurant to a wood-fired Italian trattoria and a castaway lunch on the neighbouring island of Jehunuhura. Six Senses Spa runs eight treatment rooms and a Biohacking Recovery Lounge, and a dedicated kids' club and teen space make it a straightforward choice for families travelling together.

Recommended For

Families

Kuda Vela and Island Hideout split younger children from teenagers rather than mixing them into one room, and the Retreat and Two Bedroom categories give the extra bedrooms and pool space a family actually uses.

Couples

A castaway lunch on Jehunuhura, a romantic beach dinner, and a sunset dolphin cruise cover the set pieces, while the smaller Beach Villa and Beach Villa with Pool categories keep the footprint intimate for two.

Active travellers

Diving, snorkelling, kayaking, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding are all on offer, plus tennis and squash courts and three tiers of fishing trip — morning, sunset, and big-game.

Before you book

How do we get to Six Senses Kanuhura?

The direct route is a 40-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport (MLE). The alternative is a 30-minute domestic flight followed by a 15-minute speedboat transfer to the island — useful when timing or availability doesn't line up with the seaplane.

Is Six Senses Kanuhura good for families?

Yes — the resort runs the Grow With Six Senses family initiative alongside Kuda Vela, a kids' club for ages 3 to 11, and a separate Island Hideout space for teenagers. Family watersports lessons, cooking classes, and guided snorkelling round out the programme, and several villa categories are configured with two and three bedrooms for larger families.

What water activities are available?

Diving and snorkelling are available directly from the resort, alongside kayaking, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Fishing trips run in the morning, at sunset, and as full big-game outings, and a castaway lunch excursion runs to the private island of Jehunuhura.

What dining options does the resort have?

Seven venues cover the range: The Market for all-day breakfast and dinner with themed buffet nights, Bottega for wood-fired Italian, Drift for grilled local reef fish (with a castaway lunch option on Jehunuhura), Sip & Sand for poolside lunch and a Japanese-fusion sunset menu, The Point for Spanish-influenced tapas and wine, Sunset Point for rooftop drinks with a resident DJ, and Scoops for complimentary ice cream, sorbet, and baked goods through the day.

Which villa category should we book?

With 14 categories across 85 villas, the choice mostly comes down to beach versus overwater and how many bedrooms you need. Beach Villa and Beach Villa with Pool are the entry points; Deluxe Beach Villa with Pool is the resort's largest single category at 18 villas; and the four Retreat and Reserve categories make up the resort's 12 dedicated sunset-view villas. IMJ matches the category to party size and whether beachfront or overwater matters more.

What's at the spa?

Six Senses Spa runs eight treatment rooms, including a couple's suite and a VIP suite, plus a Biohacking Recovery Lounge for compression therapy and vibrational pain relief. Separate male and female heat and water facilities cover steam, sauna, cold plunge, and jacuzzi, and the fitness side adds an indoor yoga pavilion, an outdoor beachfront yoga pavilion, a gym, and squash and tennis courts.
