NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort

A 120-villa private island in Gaafu Dhaalu — by the resort's own description, the world's second-largest atoll — reachable only by domestic flight and speedboat, no seaplane, where a European city-hotel brand runs a genuinely secluded, dive-heavy, family-friendly programme far from the seaplane-served central atolls.

Before you book

How do I get to NH Collection Maldives Havodda, and how long does the transfer take?

There's no seaplane option — the only route in is a 55-minute domestic flight from Velana International Airport (MLE) to Kaadedhdhoo Domestic Airport (KDM), followed by a 15-minute, 13 km speedboat crossing to the resort. The resort states a total transfer time of about 1 hour 15 minutes from Velana, and guests get complimentary access to a private lounge at the airport while waiting for the domestic flight. It's a longer, more remote journey than most central-atoll resorts — worth planning around rather than a quick add-on to a Malé stopover.

Are meal plans available at Havodda?

No named meal plan (no BB/HB/FB/All-Inclusive label) turned up on the pages we reviewed. Dining runs across three restaurants — REEF, SURF and Pizza Kaage — plus Thari Bar and Iru Bar, so confirm which plan, if any, and which venues it covers with your consultant before booking.

Is Havodda geared toward families, or couples, or both?

Both. There's an on-site kids' club (no stated age range or hours), a kids' breakfast menu, a baby crib available on request, and paid babysitting — alongside a floodlit multi-purpose court for tennis, basketball or football. Every villa is also 100% non-smoking. Nothing on the reviewed pages singles out a specific villa category as the family one, so talk through room configurations with your consultant if travelling with children.

What's the house reef and diving like at Havodda?

The resort describes "an amazing house reef" directly around the island. Beyond that, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll — described on-site as the world's second-largest atoll — holds 25+ dive spots with shark, tuna, barracuda and sailfish encounters, run through a third-party watersports and dive centre; the FAQ notes guests can work toward a scuba licence on-site.

What's included, and what costs extra?

Specifics on which watersports are complimentary versus paid aren't broken out on the pages we reviewed — the dive and watersports centre (paddleboarding, jet ski, scuba) is run by a third-party operator, so confirm exact inclusions and costs with your consultant. Free Wi-Fi runs throughout the resort (a separate high-speed tier is also offered), the pool is complimentary for hotel guests, and laundry and babysitting are both available for a fee.

What villa categories does Havodda have, and which have a private pool?

Seven categories across 120 villas, split evenly 60 overwater and 60 beachfront. Sunrise Beach Villa, Sunset Beach Villa and Over Water Villa have no private pool; Beach Villa with Private Pool, Sunrise Beach Pool Villa, Sunset Beach Pool Villa and the flagship Over Water Pool Suite all do — the Over Water Pool Suite is the only category with an overwater pool. Per-category villa counts within the 60/60 split aren't stated, and every category is listed with a single King bed and a maximum occupancy of 3, without an adult/child breakdown.
