Before you book

How do we get to JW Marriott Maldives, and how long is the transfer?

The resort is on Vagaru Island in Shaviyani Atoll, reached by seaplane from Velana International Airport roughly 192km away. Seaplanes fly daylight hours only, so international arrivals should land by 3:00pm and departures from Malé are recommended after 9:00am. A Welcome Ambassador meets guests at the arrival terminal and escorts them to the seaplane check-in counter and lounge, where advance reservations are required.

Do all the villas have private pools?

Yes — every villa category carries a private pool, from the 1-bedroom Overwater and Beach Pool Villas (part of a 60-villa total, ranging 234-285sqm across those two categories) up to the two-story Duplex Overwater Pool Villa and the family-oriented Duplex Beach Pool Villa. Overwater categories come with a choice of sunrise or sunset aspect.

Is this a good resort for a multigenerational family trip?

It's built for exactly that. The Duplex Beach Pool Villa is a two-bedroom, split-level layout — one king room, one twin room, separate lounges and bathrooms — designed for grandparents, parents and children under one roof. Little Griffins Kids' Club runs 100+ daily activities around its own 43-foot pirate ship, with babysitting available on request.

What's the dining like across a week's stay?

Ten restaurants and bars are spread across the island, from Aailaa's all-day international menu to Hashi's overwater teppanyaki counter, Kaashi's treetop Thai lunches, and Shio's beachfront grill. The Wine Room, built into a corner of Aailaa, holds 1,620 bottles across 320 labels, and Rum Baan stocks 98 rums up its own rope-bridge treehouse.

How is the house reef, and are there guided marine experiences?

The house reef supports diving, snorkelling excursions and other water sports directly from the resort, and an on-site marine biologist oversees reef health and leads excursions to see sea turtles and manta rays. The resort also runs a coral restoration programme.

Is there an adults-only space if we're travelling with children?

Yes — Pool 18 is the resort's dedicated adults-only pool, kept separate from Horizon Pool and Little Griffin's Pool, with private cabanas available along the beachfront and at Horizon Pool.
