How do we get to Jumeirah Olhahali Island, and how long does the transfer take?
Two options from Velana International Airport: a 55-minute speedboat, or a 15-minute seaplane. IMJ confirms which route suits the arrival time and party size before booking.
Does Jumeirah Olhahali Island have a house reef for snorkelling?
The resort's own materials don't describe a house reef. The water programme instead centres on complimentary non-motorised watersports in the lagoon (kayaks, paddleboards, windsurfing), a semi-submarine ride, and nearby dive sites — Olhahali Thila and the Mahal Caves — reachable by boat, with manta ray, turtle and nurse shark sightings reported there.
Is Jumeirah Olhahali Island a good choice for families?
Yes. A kids' club is listed among the resort facilities, alongside a spa and yoga programme for children and babysitting on request. The semi-submarine is pitched at "families and curious explorers alike," and the two- and three-bedroom Residences and Retreats give a family genuine separation between rooms.
What villa categories are there, and do they all have a private pool?
Ten categories across 67 residences — one-, two- and three-bedroom villas set beachfront, lagoon-facing, ocean-facing or overwater. Every one has its own private infinity pool, scaled to size: 7 metres in the one-bedroom villas, 14.3 metres in the two-bedroom residences, and 18 metres in the three-bedroom retreats, plus a shared 120-square-metre private roof terrace.
What dining options does the resort have?
Five restaurants — Shimmers (Mediterranean beach club), Kayto (Peruvian-Japanese Nikkei), Glow (all-day international) and Alaaya Bay (open-flame seafood and grilled meats) — plus Café Lounge, a Gelateria, and private dining set up on the Sunset Pier. Restaurant hours aren't published by the resort; IMJ confirms current service times at booking.
Is the resort adults-only, or does it welcome children of all ages?
Jumeirah Olhahali Island welcomes families as well as couples — the resort explicitly positions itself for "friends and families" alongside romantic getaways and active travellers. Kids' club age ranges and hours aren't published in the resort's own materials, so IMJ confirms the current programme before travel.
