Niva Kuramathi Maldives spans nearly two kilometres of North Ari Atoll, long enough that beach, water and pool villas each sit in their own stretch of the island. The house reef runs the length of the shoreline, a sandbank extends toward the horizon off Thundi Point, and ten restaurants plus a PADI/SSI dive centre give a longer stay room to range without repeating a day.

Families

Bageecha Kids Club runs a full day from 08:30 to 18:30, and the Two Bedroom Beach House gives six adults or two families room enough not to trip over each other.

Divers

A full PADI/SSI dive centre, manta ray and shark dives, and a Medical Centre with its own hyperbaric chamber — Kuramathi is built for guests who dive on more days than they don't.

First-time Maldives couples

Eleven villa categories mean the choice between a beach villa and an overwater pool villa is a real one here, not just a price jump — good ground for a first Maldives trip to get the format right.

Before you book

How do we get to Kuramathi from Malé?

Kuramathi sits 56km west of Velana International Airport in North Ari Atoll. The seaplane is a 20-minute scenic flight, and Airport Hosts meet guests on arrival and take them to a dedicated lounge before departure; the speedboat runs three times daily and takes 75–90 minutes, guided by Airport Representatives. IMJ books the transfer alongside the villa so the connection is confirmed before you land.

What's covered under Kuramathi's meal plans?

All-Inclusive covers a wide beverage selection, snorkelling and windsurfing equipment, afternoon refreshments and one excursion, taken across the three buffet restaurants — Malaafaiy, Haruge and Farivalhu. Dine Around All-Inclusive adds access to the nine à la carte restaurants, a curated wine selection and a spa credit voucher. IMJ can talk through which plan suits how much you plan to move between venues.

Is Kuramathi suited to families, or is it adults-only?

Families are well covered — Bageecha Kids Club runs daily from 08:30 to 18:30 for ages three to twelve, complimentary, with its own splash pads, treehouse and sandpit, plus arts, marine-life and Eco Centre sessions. Crèche and babysitting are available at an extra charge, including after-hours care with advance booking. IMJ registers children before arrival with any dietary or activity notes.

How good is the house reef at Kuramathi?

The reef runs directly off the island's shores, so snorkelling starts from the beach rather than a boat ride. The resort also runs a full PADI/SSI dive centre offering manta ray and shark dives, and keeps a resident marine biologist and an Eco Centre on site. IMJ can arrange a guided reef orientation for the first morning.

Which villa categories come with a private pool?

Five of Kuramathi's eleven categories carry a private pool: Water Bungalow with Pool (15 sqm), Pool Villa and Water Villa with Pool (18 sqm each), Thundi Water Villa with Pool (18 sqm, nearest the sandbank), and the two Honeymoon Pool Villas, which add a 10-metre lap pool. The remaining categories — Beach Villa, Beach Bungalow, Superior and Deluxe Beach Villas, the Two Bedroom Beach House and Deluxe Water Villa — do not have one. IMJ matches the category to whether a private pool actually matters for the stay.

Is there medical care on site, including for diving-related emergencies?

Yes — Kuramathi's Medical Centre includes a hyperbaric (decompression) chamber, alongside doctors on site and 24-hour reception. It's a detail worth knowing for a resort with an active dive programme, and not something every Maldives property carries. IMJ flags this for any group planning to dive during the stay.
