Beach Front Villa
Direct beach access with a private veranda for coffee and sundowners, and an open-air shower that turns rinsing off after the reef into part of the stay.
2 adults (double bed) · No private pool · Beachfront
An all-inclusive, Italian-touched "Barefoot Luxury" island in South Ari Atoll, built around its own coral-restoration programme and a resident marine biologist, about 25 minutes from Malé by seaplane.

Diamonds Athuruga Beach & Water Villas sits on Athuruga Island in South Ari Atoll, about 25 minutes from Malé by Air Taxi Maldivian seaplane. All-inclusive across five villa categories — from its entry-level Beach Front Villa to a jetty-end Two Bedroom Pool Water Villa — the resort runs its own Coral Conservation Project and Maldives Marine Lab, five dining venues, a PADI dive centre, and Dining with the Stars, its December-April guest-chef series.
Ayurvedic Treatment
Afternoon · restorative
Ayurveda-rooted treatments — shirodhara, dosha-based facials — led by an on-site Ayurvedic specialist as a named modality distinct from a generic massage.
Boduberu Cultural Show
Evening · all ages, for two
Live Boduberu drumming and dance, paired with the evening or arrival cultural programming resorts run alongside it — culture talks, on-site museums, welcome ceremonies.
Coral Adoption & Restoration
Morning · all ages, restorative
Hands-on reef and marine conservation guests can join directly — adopting or planting coral frames, mangrove planting, and turtle-rescue visits with a hatchling release.
Big-Game Fishing
Afternoon · for two, all ages
Offshore trolling, jigging and popping for marlin, tuna, sailfish and dorado — a different boat and crew from the sunset hand-reel trip.
IDive's PADI Gold Palm Resort status, free Nitrox and daily Dhoni-boat trips to a different South Ari Atoll site sit alongside a reef drop-off right off the island and a resident marine biologist running weekly reef workshops — a stay built around the water, not just beside it.
A marriage certificate at check-in unlocks a complimentary flower-and-fruit welcome, and the jetty-end Two Bedroom Pool Water Villa or a private Kakuni seafood dinner on the sand both suit two people wanting the island mostly to themselves.
There's no dedicated kids' club, and Water Villas admit children 8 and under only with a signed disclaimer — so this suits families with older children more naturally than toddlers, especially booked into one of the beachfront categories.

How do I get to Diamonds Athuruga from Malé?
By Air Taxi Maldivian seaplane. The resort's dedicated transfer pages state approximately 25 minutes, though its homepage separately advertises 20 — we plan around the longer figure and confirm the live schedule closer to travel. The same flight also serves sister resort Diamonds Thudufushi. Pre-booking is recommended, and a Stay Longer Offer (6+ nights, booked direct) includes complimentary seaplane transfers.
What's included in the all-inclusive plan?
A welcome cocktail; breakfast, lunch and dinner; wine, beer, cocktails, aperitif, soft drinks, coffee, tea and mineral water; a daily-replenished minibar; Wi-Fi at reception and in Water Villas; canoes and windsurfing; snorkelling equipment; and a guided reef snorkel tour. Thari Over Water Restaurant is included only for Water Villa guests (extra charge for everyone else), and Thila Japanese, Farivalhu and Kakuni are all flagged 'Not complimentary' — as is premium wine across every venue.
Is Diamonds Athuruga suitable for children, and what's the water villa policy?
There's no dedicated named kids' club on the official site — children's services are handled generically through Guest Services, with cradles and high chairs available on request. Water Villas (both One Bedroom and Two Bedroom Pool categories) admit children 8 and under only with a signed parental or legal-guardian disclaimer.
What dining and bar venues does the resort have?
Five dining venues — Maakeyn Buffet Restaurant, Thari Over Water Restaurant, Thila Japanese Restaurant, the Farivalhu Maldivian Dining Experience (a four-seat garden hut with traditional dishes and sarongs), and the fully personalised Kakuni Seafood Dining Experience (staged wherever a guest chooses: beach, water-villa terrace or bungalow) — plus two bars, Boli Beach Bar and Thari Over Water Bar. The resort's published photography doesn't include dedicated shots of Farivalhu, Kakuni or the Thari bar, so IMJ confirms current details with the resort ahead of a stay.
How is the house reef, and is there a resident marine biologist?
The reef drops off directly from the island and is home to an active in-house coral nursery. A resident marine biologist runs weekly Biology Evenings, workshops (manta feeding technique, coral development, plankton studies) and a guided snorkelling excursion, alongside a weekly beach clean-up on a nearby uninhabited island — guests can also join Citizen Science data-collection sessions through the resort's Maldives Marine Lab, run in partnership with the University of Milano-Bicocca.
Is there a diving programme?
Yes — the IDive Diving Centre holds PADI Gold Palm Resort status, with Italian-, English- and German-speaking instructors, free Nitrox, and daily boat excursions aboard a traditional Dhoni to a different South Ari Atoll dive site each day. Courses run from beginner through experienced diver, and a seasonal 'Dive Into Summer' package bundles up to two guided dives a day with full equipment rental and dive insurance.
