Vilamendhoo Maldives Resort Island

A South Ari Atoll house-reef resort built around diving and snorkelling on both sides of a 1.5-kilometre beach, with a genuine adults-only zone alongside family-friendly villa categories on the same island.

5 categories

Vilamendhoo's "One Island, One Resort" concept puts the house reef a short swim from the beach on both shores, with Euro Divers running PADI certification, guided dives and night snorkelling beside it. Five villa categories run from garden-set Tropical Villas to overwater Romantic Ocean Villas, with a genuine adults-only zone — Romantic villas, Ahima Restaurant, Sunset Bar — alongside the Heron Kids Club and family categories on the same island.

Recommended For

Divers and snorkellers

The house reef runs both sides of a 1.5-kilometre beach and Euro Divers' PADI 5-Star centre is steps from the sand — for guests who want to be in the water more than out of it, this is the pitch.

Families

Children can stay in three of the five villa categories, with the Heron Kids Club's indoor and outdoor play areas and a Games Room built into Bonthi Bar — a genuinely family-set-up island, not an add-on kids club.

Couples wanting an adults-only stretch, not an adults-only resort

The Romantic villas, Ahima Restaurant and the Sunset Bar form a real adults-only zone on the same island as the family side — couples get the separation without booking a resort that excludes children altogether.

Before you book

How long is the transfer from Malé, and how do we get there?

Vilamendhoo is a 25-minute seaplane flight from Velana International Airport, arriving and departing through the resort's own Fehurihi Lounge. IMJ times the seaplane connection around your international flight and confirms baggage details ahead of travel.

What meal plans are available?

Vilamendhoo runs two buffet restaurants — Funama and the adults-only Ahima — plus the à la carte Faru and Asian Wok restaurants and Boashi Café. An optional All-Inclusive Dine Around package adds unlimited snacks and drinks at Bonthi and Sunset Bars, a sunset cruise, a local-island excursion and set-menu dining at Asian Wok or Faru; IMJ confirms which board basis applies to a given rate.

Is Vilamendhoo suitable for families, or is it adults-only?

Both — Vilamendhoo runs a genuine split. Children can stay in the Tropical, Beachfront and Adjacent Beachfront Villas, with the Heron Kids Club's outdoor and indoor play areas and a Games Room inside Bonthi Bar. The Romantic Beachfront and Romantic Ocean Villas, Ahima Restaurant and the Sunset Bar form a separate adults-only zone on the same island.

How good is the house reef?

It's the resort's core positioning — the house reef runs on both sides of a 1.5-kilometre beach, close enough to reach on a swim from the sand. Euro Divers Scuba Centre, a PADI 5-Star instructional centre, runs guided diving, full certification courses and night snorkelling trips alongside it.

What's the difference between the villa categories?

Five categories run from garden-set Tropical Villas through Beachfront and the two-villas-in-one Adjacent Beachfront Villas, up to the adults-only Romantic Beachfront and overwater Romantic Ocean Villas — the only category with a private staircase into the lagoon. None carry a private pool; villas share the family Boashi Pool or the adults-only Sunset Infinity Pool depending on category.

Can we book a wedding or vow renewal at Vilamendhoo?

Yes — the resort offers honeymoon packages with an optional symbolic vow renewal or wedding ceremony at its wedding pavilion. IMJ coordinates the paperwork and ceremony details as part of the booking.
